ARTIST STATEMENT

My practice can provoke or challenge in subtle ways, leading to dialogue and conversation. This is an important factor highlighting curiosity, engagement, questioning, relationship, society, placement, landscape and community, both local and global.
Currently I am exploring drawing in its broadest sense. My creative practice is process led. I am exploring the use of paintings and drawings, in order to experiment with floor and wall space according to a given location. In the course of creative process and development these moved on to become more sculptural in form. A three dimensional drawing or painting. In this sense, paper is not just a support for a drawing, but the paper has become the drawn line itself. Edges are torn, ripped, cut or otherwise and are vital to these sculptural drawings. The ripped line, the highlighted edges, form part of the sculptural drawing. Currently I am also exploring the use of recycled materials and plastics. Also recycled paper. I am also exploring both rural and urban landscape, working with the natural elements and recycled materials, to create sculptural drawing installations and 30sec/ 1min artist films , documented using a #cameraphone
These Contemporary Art Installations are large in scale and create a dialogue for physical interaction and with subtle political and social undertones, they can challenge and engage in conversation. They have been described as both fragile and monumental.
The creative process is vital to me, allowing my practice to move forward and develop. The use of sketchbooks both digital and traditional, including recent explorations of digital film, all inform my creativity and help me stay connected to the larger pieces of art. ARTIST’S C.V
