COVE PARK

VISUAL ARTS RESIDENCY 2016

Cove Park, Argyll and Bute, Scotland U.K

In 2016 Bea Last was awarded a Visual Arts Residency Award via UpLand Arts Organisation in partnership with Creative Scotland . This allowed her to spend supported time to develop her creative practice at Cove Park, Argyle and Bute, Scotland. This time was pivotal to Bea’s practice allowing for experimentation and exploration. Set in a stunning part of Scotland, with residencies covering a broad selection of creative industries, from the Visual Arts, Dance, Drama, Creative Writing , Translation and more, internationally and nationally.

“At this point in my creative practice, having been given supported time and space I wanted to explore my creative practice further by working off canvas, away from large scale paintings. By limiting myself to rolls and rolls of various papers, black and white paint and a multitude of sketchbooks I began to explore drawing as a sculptural form. As with current works where fabric or plastic has become THE DRAWN LINE, so did paper. Edges, torn, wripped, cut or otherwise became vitally important as with the space and its environment in which they were placed”
