WHAT IS MENTORING?
Mentoring is different to teaching. It is led by the mentee . The Mentor is there to support you , to offer advice, to signpost and guide you. The Mentor is there to help in a non judgemental way and all held in confidence.
A Mentee may be a recent graduate looking for support in order to establish their creative practice or a more mature artist looking to pick up their career after having taken a break. Perhaps you are an artist seeking support with a project or an established artist looking for some peer mentoring.

HOW DO THE MENTORING SESSIONS WORK?
Mentoring sessions are available in a variety of ways and are flexible depending on your needs. From one off sessions through to regular meetings .They can be as frequent or infrequent as you desire and are guided by your wants and needs. An online session for example generally lasts and hour and includes preparatory and written feedback from myself. The frequency of the sessions is led by the client and consist of a one off session or regular sessions over the course of the year. For booking a group of sessions, four or more, please ask for discounted rates.
HOW I CAN HELP…..
As a mentor I can help support you through your practice. Artists statements, C.V’s and applications . Mentoring is supportive and will help in a non-judgmental way to guide you through any issues you may be having. This could be help with writing an artist statement but could also be used to help you move your creative practice forward. I can help support you with marketing, publicity and international sales through to creative mark making, sketchbooks and the creative process.. Sometimes a conversation may be all that is needed, to help focus and clarify the artists intentions or support with forthcoming exhibitions, project proposals and applications. I have over 30 years experience of working in the creative industries having studied at art school for over five years. From community arts practice, arts in healthcare, corporate and private sectors, applications as an artist and as a selection board panel member for CABN – Creative Scotland (amongst others) . From Commercial galleries to Public galleries, Artist collectives and Open Studios.

TESTIMONIALS FROM CURRENT & PREVIOUS MENTEES….
” I was mentored by Bea through CABN with a number of one-to-one meetings. Bea was a fantastic mentor. She was generous with her knowledge and experience whilst being encouraging. She really helped me to look at where I was and where I wanted to be with my own work. I would say being mentored by Bea was invaluable for me and has helped me to go further in my career as an Artist ” – AMY WINSTANLEY, ARTIST.
”Thanks to Upland I’ve been having some mentoring with @Bea Last Artist which has been fantastic. It’s really helped me focus and clarify my thoughts. One of the things Bea has helped me with is re-writing my artists statement, which I’ve been meaning to do for ages!” HELEN WALSH, DELICATES STICHES, ARTIST/MAKER
